Youth Mental Health First Aider (June 2021)
The goal of this two-day course is to raise awareness of mental health issues and give you the skills, confidence, and knowledge to support a young person who may be suffering or in crisis. Participants will learn how to offer initial support until appropriate professional help is available. Suitable for anyone that supports a young person aged 8-18
What does it cover?
The two-day course examines the signs and symptoms of mental health issues children and young people commonly experience. These include depression, anxiety, suicide, psychosis, self-harm and eating disorders. This two-day youth MHFA course is presented face to face at Alderton Junior School and is made up of both individual learning activities and a series of live sessions.
What else does it include?
The package includes a certificate, handouts and a training manual which is an excellent reference and support resource. (Lunch and refreshments on both days included.)

How is it delivered?
This is a face to face course delivered at Alderton Junior School in the Bloom Room (Training Room) by Jo Morton- Brown. Learning takes place through four live training sessions spread across the two consecutive Fridays, with self-learning activities in between.
Who presents the course?
Jo Morton-Brown is an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy. Working as an Emotional Health Practitioner, Jo is a passionate and committed advocate for the improvement of mental health. Combining her academic knowledge with first-hand experience, she can offer fellow professionals working with children and their families the chance to gain targeted mental health and emotional wellbeing training.
Delegates need to attend both dates to complete the course.

Friday 11th June 2021 and Friday 18th June 2021
The course is split into four sections:
- What is Mental Health?
- Anxiety and Depression
- Suicide and Psychosis
- Self-Harm and Eating Disorders
Each section will have a live, face- to - face session and those live learning sessions will be delivered:
Session 1: Friday 11th June 2021, 9:30am - 5:30pm
Session 2: Friday 18th June 2021, 9:30 - 5:30pm
